Oblivion Dust AIRHEAD RADIO
KEN (the
show's host, OD's vocal): Airhead radio has begun once again. I'm Ken, vocalist
of Oblivion Dust. The person I've said long, looong ago who might come to the
show is finally here, LUNA SEA's Inoran!
INO: Good
evening.
KEN: Konnichiwa. (hello!)
INO: Konnichiwa. (hi!)
KEN: It's
been a long while huh.
INO: Yeah,
but it's our first time ne...at work.
KEN: First
time at work...
INO: We're
always drinking when we're together. I've only seen a drunk Ken ne.
KEN: ^_^
Yup...no, no...^_^ before you pull my image down...
INO:
Ah...your image is that you don't drink...^_^
KEN: That's
wrong, wrong, wrong... you've been drunk too, right? ^_^
INO: Yes I
have been ^_^
KEN.INO: (laughs)
KEN: (first
time we met was) at the time you guys went solo, right.
INO: Yeah.
KEN: After
J's concert...
INO: Yeah.
KEN: What
was it I first said to you? Something like "We're both sporting pierces
today huh".
INO: Ah, yes
yes yes.
KEN: Then I
said something like "If we got really close now, our pierces would
hit".
INO: Yeah
yeah.
KEN: You
looked at me then like you were goin'...."What's with this guy?"
^______^
INO: Who?
KEN: You
^_^ You're expression...
INO: Me, my
eyes were like that?
KEN: ^_^
Yeah.
INO: Ussooo
(lie) ^_____^
KEN: True
true true true ^_^
INO: ^ ^;;
Sorry sorry sorry
KEN:
Yeah..that was like a year and a half ago.
INO: Yeah.
KEN: So for
a year and half, Inoran and I weren't close...
INO: Hai.
KEN: But
now...
INO: We are
ne ^_^
KEN: ^___^
But more than saying close friends, let's call it something more...
INO: What?
What sort of...
KEN: We're
already like brothers.
INO: Yeah,
brothers ne.
KEN:
Brothers.
INO: You've
said that to me before. I was really happy.
KEN:
Really?
INO: Yeah.
KEN: You
weren't drunk? But I was.
INO: You
were ^___^
KEN: ^_^
Okay, so what have you been doing lately?
INO:
Lately, um...Luna Sea's next album? We're currently writing new songs.
KEN: You
guys are doing it individually.
INO: Yes.
KEN: Okay,
so how's working at home?
INO: Yeah I
stay at home, go out...
KEN: So
what do you do when you go out?
INO: I write
songs ^_^
KEN: How?
What do you do, say in Shinjuku's Kabukichou? (Kabuki street)
INO: Um, not
exactly like that...at times I go like, [Ah, I got it]. *inspiration or an idea
maybe*
KEN: Ah.
INO: When I
go out, everytime I go home I carry something back with me, an element for my
songs.
KEN: You
don't like, play guitar in front of theatres.
INO: Not
really ^_^
KEN: You've
never tried that, to maybe let people listen to you and see their response.
INO: I'd
lke to do that, yeah. How 'bout you, have you tried it?
KEN: No ^_^
INO: ^_^
KEN: Ok,
but...
INO: What?
KEN: I've
been calling you, and everytime I do, you're always out shopping.
INO:
Ah...'cause I like shopping ne.
KEN: I've
never got the chance to talk to you on the phone while you were working, so I
was kindda thinking "How's he doing?".
INO: But
you get the answering machine when you call, right. Maybe I'm working during
those times.
KEN: Ah,
yeah. But really, when I call I'm always told you're shopping. Okay, so now I'd
really like to talk a lot about you today, yoroshiku onegaishimasu.
INO:
Onegaishimasu.
KEN: But
first of all, let's all listen to this song I like, from his solo album he
released the time we met. [Monsoon Baby].
-PART 2-
KEN: This
is Oblivion Dust's Ken, and Inoran...
INO: Hai.
KEN: Okay,
so lately Luna Sea went to other Asian countries, right?
INO: Yes.
KEN: How
was it?
INO: Ah, it
was really interesting.
KEN:
Really?
INO: Yeah.
We went to Taiwan, Hong Kong and Shanghai, and we thought the (fans') response
would be different...but it was really great. We had lots of fans. Oh, and our
album also came out in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Not in Shanghai though.
KEN: You
guys didn't release your album in Shanghai and yet you could do a concert
there. That's really great.
INO: Yeah.
The day before, I think we did TV? And radio.
KEN: I've
heard a lot about it, and you were also on the magazines. So, how different was
it, Taiwan and...
INO: I
think they're more for rock bands in Hong Kong.
KEN: Hong Kong.
INO: Yeah.
And Shang...oh, this is my opinion alone, okay?
KEN: Yeah.
INO: In
Shanghai, it's like the first time (for a rock band to perform). They don't
usually have it there.
KEN: So you
were suprised (*of the reaction maybe?*) when you performed?
INO: Really
surprised ^_^
KEN: So
what were you guys thinking?
INO: Well
from the beginning we were thinking maybe we couldn't get through to them (or
they won't appreciate us), but we thought, this is Me. This is Luna Sea, let's
go try it.
KEN: So
though you guys are really huge here in Japan, it felt like you were just
debuting then.
INO: Yeah.
KEN: Your Asian
tour was...only one concert per location?
INO: Yes.
KEN: So you
had a chance to stay there a while. What did you do on your free time?
INO: Um,
but I only went out to eat. I guess that's not really going out.
KEN: Really
^_^ ? How was the food?
INO: Delicious,
delicious.
KEN: Which
was the most delicious?
INO: I like
Shisen cooking, spicy food.
KEN: Spicy?
INO: Spicy
Chinese food. I like spicy.
KEN: It was
good, huh.
INO: Good.
KEN: Okay,
so today we'll try to get to know the real you for the people who'd like to
know "What kind of person is Inoran?". Like, I didn't know you liked
natou (fermented soybeans).
INO: Yes...
KEN: I had
a friend in junior high..no, I think from elementary, who can reverse his
eyelids...can you do that?
INO: I can't, I
can't. Can you?
KEN: I
can't...no, maybe I can ^_^
INO: ^_^
(jokes) WHY are you asking me that...
KEN:
Nothing, well, the question just suddenly came to me...okay, let's listen to
another song first. One time when Ino and I were drinking, he said he liked
this band THE THE.
INO: Yes, I
like them.
KEN: I
brought their CD today. Shall we listen to it? What do you like about them?
INO: Um...I
like everything, the music. That time Johnny Mar was still the guitarist. But
he's with SMITH now. I really think he's great.
KEN: An
influence to you?
INO: Yeah.
KEN: Like
he's saying "Please try and play guitar, everyone."
INO: Yeah.
KEN: Okay,
so let's listen to Inoran's influence Johnny Mar, here's THE THE's [Dogs of
Lust].
-PART 3-
KEN: Now
you're listening to Oblivion Dust's vocalist Ken, and!
INO: ...Luna
Sea's Inoran.
KEN: ^_^
Your voice is...
INO: ...has
gotten hoarse now.
KEN: Sorry,
sorry ^__^ You didn't tell me about it...
INO: It's
okay, it's okay.
KEN: Okay,
now let's go on to "The real Inoran", part 2. I'd like to hear about
your childhood...so how was it?
INO: Well,
I played baseball.
KEN: Eh?
Really?
INO: Yeah,
in grade school.
KEN:
Woah...this again is, like...
INO: What?
KEN:
...doesn't seem like you.
INO:
Really?
KEN: Yeah.
INO:
Maybe...
KEN: What
position did you play?
INO: 'Cause
I'm left-handed, I've only been a pitcher.
KEN: Eh?
Why...
INO: I'm
left-handed, so it was sortta decided already. But it didn't last long though.
Here in Japan practice is stiff. We can't have fun while playing. It was
important to win in a competition, so practice had been really strict. I don't
see it a lot in TV so I wouldn't know, but I think in other countries, players
do have fun while playing.
KEN: I'm
kindda seeing/thinking of you in a camp...
INO:
Haven't tried that. I thought it would be boring. I want to enjoy while doing
something.
KEN: Okay,
then after you stopped playing baseball, you started your great rock band (*he
used the exact term*)?
INO: No,
we're not, honestly.
KEN: ^_^
That's a lie ne.
KEN.INO:
^__^
KEN: When
did you start to like rock? And, what else did you wanted to do?
INO: I went
on to junior high and I started listening to music. I've always wanted to be in
a band that time.
KEN: (talks
about his childhood. He studied classic ballet then) ... the tights...I was
miserable. I wanted to do football, but I wasn't big enough. Music was my last
option.
INO: How
much/often did you listen to music?
KEN: I
guess enough to make me want to be in a band. I actually started Oblivion Dust.
INO: Ah,
yes.
KEN: I
thought...if I think I could do it, I CAN do it.
INO: Yeah.
KEN: Anyone
can do anything!!
INO:
Woah..indeed.
KEN: When
you stopped baseball, did it feel *gray? (dunno what he meant ^ ^;)
INO: Not
really...let's play baseball, everyone ^__^
KEN: ^_^
INO: Have
fun while doing it, yeah.
KEN: We
shouldn't do it _without_ having fun.
INO: Yeah.
Because we're only people and we only live once, we should enjoy the moment.
KEN:
Yesterday I called Ino to ask him to bring along whatever song he liked, and
then...^__^ So which did you choose?
INO: Hm.
Which one.
KEN: ^___^
Which one...
INO: Um, I
can't remember the titles though.
KEN:
A...it's okay, it's okay.
INO: It's
Oblivion Dust's song. You released this as a single, right? I really like this.
KEN:
Oblivion's latest single. When I called you yesterday asking you what song
would you like to bring along, they told me I should ask you "What about
Oblivion?". But I didn't have to, 'cause you said you wanted to play
Oblivion. That moment I was really touched.
INO: You
were?
KEN: I
kindda felt like crying, but I didn't. But I was really happy. Okay then, let's
listen to Oblivion Dust's new single [Blurred].
- PART 4 -
KEN: You're
listening to Airhead Radio, and this is Oblivion Dust's vocalit Ken and!
INO: Eh, Luna
Sea's Inoran.
KEN: Yes!
Hai. We've talked about Ino's childhood a while ago. He was introduced to music
in his childhood, and maybe for this reason he has become what he is now, with
Luna Sea. So let's go to "The real Inoran" part 3. So, what do you do
lately?
INO:
Hm...I'm always watching TV nowadays.
KEN: Eh?
What kind of shows?
INO:
Anything actually.
KEN: You
like TV?
INO: Yeah I
like watching TV lately. I do listen to CDs, but, well you'll hear different
kinds of music while watching TV right? Different music, different sounds. But
I don't watch as if I'm researching/studying.
KEN: You
watch from morning to evening, or...
INO: No, I
only watch when I'm in my room.
KEN:
Incidentally, what's your favorite TV program nowadays?
INO: What
could it be...um, nothing really.
KEN: Then,
can I say what's mine? It's [Crayon Shinchan] (an anime)
INO: ...you
like that?
KEN: It's
interesting.
INO: You
watch even now?
KEN: Yeah.
INO: Oh.
KEN: You
don't watch it? It's funny.
INO: I do.
Would you recommend it?
KEN: Isn't
it interesting? ^_^
INO: Ah,
okay I underdstand ^_^
KEN: We're
talking about TV, let's go to movies. You watch a lot, right? You've mentioned
that to me before. So what have you seen lately? Anything really good?
INO:
Lately? Hm...I don't go to movie theaters anymore so I watch on laser. The
latest I've seen is [Micheal Collins], a guy from Britain and Ireland...
KEN: ^_^ I
have NO idea about that. So what is it about? Who is he?
INO: This
guy Micheal Collins comes from Ireland, and he goes to Britain and becomes a
leader there.
KEN: That's
the film's title?
INO: Yes.
KEN: Oh. I
often watch movies but it's the first time I've heard about that.
INO: I know
nothing about Britain's history so I thought "I'd like to know about
this", and bought it.
KEN: How
was it?
INO: It was
good.
KEN: Would
you recommend it?
INO: Yes.
KEN: But I
don't think we like the same type of movies though.
INO: ^_^
Really?
KEN: Once I
mentioned to you I like Gary Oldman, right. Then you said you liked him too,
and "This movie's good", this 'poison spider'...
INO: ^_^
...wasn't that [Spider Woman]?
KEN: Oh yeah! [Spider Woman]! Well you said it was good so the next day I went to a
rental shop and got it.
When i
watched it...it was bad. ^_^
INO: Uso
(Lies!), it wasn't good?
KEN: I
didn't understand any of it.
INO: Not
that it doesn't have substance/meaning...it does, yeah.
KEN: But
now that I think of it, it's pretty dark, huh.
INO: It is.
KEN: You
like dark stuff like that ne.
INO: Yeah,
it was minorly dark.
KEN: Okay,
so that movie...
INO: What
would you recommend?
KEN: My
recommendation? Well it's not at all recent actually, but it's my favorite.
[Downtown Story]. It's a musical and it's really great. It's difficult to find
it in rental stores so I suggest ordering it.
INO: I
understand.
KEN: Jodie
Foster was only 10 yrs. old in that movie. Really interesting. Okay, so
next...when is your birthday?
INO:
September.
KEN: Aah ^_^
Okay then, as an early birthday present for you, since I'm ordering it myself,
I'll go get another copy.
INO: Thank
you.
KEN: It's
the best. To all you listeners I also recommend you guys borrow it. It's
interesting, and it's a comedy.
INO: So
it's your recommendation.
KEN: Yeah.
INO: Then,
please watch it, everyone.
KEN: Okay
then, let's listen to another song. Do you like JANE'S ADDICTION?
INO: Suki
suki suki suki (I like them).
KEN: OK!
Let's listen to JANE'S ADDICTION's [Idiot's Rule].
