Faithful Forever

As recorded by the Glenn Miller Orchestra on October 9th 1939 with Ray Eberle.
Written by Ralph Rainger and Leo Robin.  (From the animated cartoon „Gulliver’s Travels“)

Faithful forever whatever I do
Remember I’m true, remember that
Faithful forever and thankful for you
I’ll keep smiling through, remember that...

We may be apart now and then
But I’ll hold you in my heart
Till you’re in my arms again...

Faithful forever I promise to be
So always have faith in me!

Faithful To You

As recorded by the Glenn Miller Orchestra on December 6th 1939 with Ray Eberle.
Words by Mickey Stoner and Martin Block, music by Harold Green.

I’m faithful to you though we had to part
For you’ll always be the one in my heart
The dreams that we dream may never come true
I’ll live with my dreams
Faithful to you...

Time after time I’ve tried so hard to forget
Yet even with this broken heart
I’m so glad we met

No room in my heart for somebody new
So I’ll always be faithful to you!

Fifth Avenue

As recorded by the Glenn Miller Orchestra on August 14th 1940 with Marion Hutton and Tex Beneke.
Words by Mack Gordon, music by Harry Warren.

Hop a bus, take a car
Hail a cab and there you are
On Fifth Avenue
Ev’ry Joe, ev‘ry Jane
Walks along that dreamers‘ lane
On Fifth Avenue

Where they stop, window shop
And their hopes are so high
Pricing rings, pretty things
That they can’t afford to buy
But they smile, they don’t care
Ev’ryone’s a millionaire
When they’re strolling on Fifth Avenue

(whistlewhistlewhistle)
(Dialogue between Marion Hutton and Tex Beneke)

MH:
Hello there Tex, how’s the old cow hand?
What’s you out shoppin‘ on Fifth Avenue, man?

TB:
Why, I’m shoppin‘ for chaps*
My sunday pair got mussed
I tried to bust a Bronco
But the Bronc wouldn‘t bust

MH:
Do you ride that wild pony at the rodeo?

TB:
No, I ride that wild tenor** in the Wild West show
We got a cowboy band that comes on, you’ll love it!

MH: Well come on, man, let me hear a little of it...!

(*: Leather pants the cowboys wear
**: = He plays tenor saxophone)

Five O’Clock Whistle

As recorded by the Glenn Miller Orchestra on September 12th 1940 with Marion Hutton.
Written by Kim Gannon, Joe Myrow and Gene Irwin.

The five o ’clock whistle‘s on the blink
The whistle won’t blow and what do you think
My Pop is still in the factory
´Cause he don’t know what time it happens to be
The five o’clock whistle didn’t blow
The whistle is broke and what do you know
If somebody don‘t find out what‘s wrong
My Pop will be working all night long...

The Band:
Oh, who’s gonna fix the whistle,
Won‘t somebody fix the whistle,
Oh, who’s gonna fix the whistle?

MH:
So my poor old Pop will know
It’s time for him to stop...

You ought to hear what my Mommie said
When Poppa came home and sneaked into bed
And told her he worked till half past two
´Cause the five o’clock whistle never blew...!

Fooled

As recorded by the Glenn Miller Orchestra on December 8th 1941 with Ray Eberle.
Written by Bob Russell, Ross Metzger and Frank LaVere.

Fooled by your exciting touch
Fooled, or did I love too much?
I‘d think about you, the warmth of your lips
I didn’t doubt you what lovers are, then there I was
Fooled completely from the start,
Fooled by my believing heart
You’re not the dream I dreamed you’d be
Too blind to see
You only fooled with me...

Fools Rush In (Where Angels Fear To Tread)

As recorded by the Glenn Miller Orchestra on March 31st 1940 with Ray Eberle.
Words by Johnny Mercer, music by Rube Bloom.

Fools rush in where angels fear to tread
And so I come to you, my love,
My heart above my head
Though I see the danger there
If there’s a chance for me
Then I don’t care

Fools rush in where wise men never go
But wise men never fall in love
So how are they to know?
When we met I felt my life begin
So open up your heart
And let this fool rush in!

Fresh As A Daisy

As recorded by the Glenn Miller Orchestra on November 8th 1940 with Marion Hutton, Jack Lathrop and Tex Beneke.
Written by Cole Porter.  (From the musical „Panama Hattie“)

MH:
I’m fresh as a daisy, hard as a rock
Fit as a fiddle, proud as a cock
Bright as a button, sly as a fox
Shy as a violet and strong as an ox,
Light as a feather, blind as a bat
Mad as a hatter and nervous as a cat
Sweet as a cookie, pure as a dove
That means, Mister, I’m in love...!

JL:
I’m fresh as a daisy, tough as a stake
Mean as a miser, low as a snake
Scared as a rabbit, small as a mite
Gay as a meadowlark, high as a kite
Wild as a tiger, drunk as a fool
Sour as a lemon and stubborn as a mule
Sharp as a razor, smooth as a glove
That means, Mister, I’m in love...!

TB:
I’m fresh as a daisy, quick as a flash
Slow as a tortoise, mixed as a hash
Fierce as a lion, meek as a lamb
Hot as a poker and cold as a clam
Dead as a doornail, dumb as a dolt
Spry as a kitten, and frisky as a colt
Good as an angel in heaven above
That means, partner, I’m in love...!

MH:
I’m fresh as a daisy, red as a beet
JL:
Green as a golf course, white as a sheet
TB:
Raw as an oyster, swung as a gait
MH:
Mild as a cigarette, it sure tastes great!
JL:
Foggy as London, rough as a buss
TB:
Solid as a stonewall and ornery as a cuss
MH:
Blue as the sky in the heaven up above
That means, Mister,
JL:
That’s all, brother,
TB:
That’s right, partner,

ALL TOGETHER:
We’re in love!

From One Love to Another

As recorded by the Glenn Miller Orchestra on August 11th 1941 with Ray Eberle.
Words  by Albert Gamse, music by Ernesto Lecuona.

From one love to another
This dreamer calls to your heart
Oh, why should a single blue note
In our love song keep us apart?

All because of one shower
You took the sunshine away with you

From one love to another
From the old love to the new...!
